Sumampa / Sachayoj
The Sachayoj (Quichua: Sacha (forest) + -yuq (owner), ‘the owner of the forest‘) is a mythical being of Argentine folklore, the area of dissemination of his legend is the Austral Chaco, especially the province of Santiago del Estero. Sachayuq translates as „Lord of the Forest“, being the tutelary deity or protector of natural vegetation and especially trees.
