„Everything is change, he said, and everything is connected.
Also everything return, but what returns is not that went away-„
( THE DENIAL OF DEATH Louise Glück)
I spent my childhood in Sumampa, a small town in north-eastern Argentina in the province of Santiago del Estero. The dry heat, the endless horizon, the ochre-brown tones of the earth, and the dusty wind shaped my childhood. Sumampa (Sumaj Mampa) means ‘beautiful flowing water’.
„VIEW OF THE WIND“
In the culture of the Far East, which probably leans more towards impermanence and transformation than identity and permanence, the word ‘wind’ is used very frequently. ‘Landscape’, for instance, means ‘view of wind’. Instead of a ‘landscape’ one actually should talk of a ‘windscape’. From this Far Eastern perspective, ‘landscape’ loses the sense of something rigid attached to the earth and acquires the sense of something flowing or passing.
